Entrepreneur Story - Week 2

My earliest recollection of meeting an entrepreneur would have to be at my first job working at a Hungry Howies pizza owned by an independent franchisee. It was his first store and he explained to me that in order to get the store he had to borrow funds from his parents and his in-laws, that when he first bought it he worked all of the time maybe had one day a week off working open to close to save on hiring a store manager.

He was conscious on how much he would spend on supplies each month, making sure that he wasn’t over staffed, he was very tight with his money not just on the business side but his personal life as well. Because his main priority was paying off the loans. It took him 2 years from when he bought his first store to buy his second and when I quit a year after working there he was looking into buying a third store.

What I took from him was his drive to succeed and not stopping at just one store but to keep going. I think with anything that you are trying to achieve you have to have drive, motivation and acknowledge that it will not be easy, there will be bumps along the way but if you keep focused and concentrate on the end game and not your setbacks you can accomplish a lot.

  2. Hello there Joselyn,
Your entrepreneurship story is a very good example of what an entrepreneur is and all the things he or she has to do in order to succeed. You mentioned some very important aspects of being an entrepreneur some of which include having motivation, acknowledgement, focus and a desired to succeed. I love the fact that although your boss faced many challenges to own his first store he didn’t let that stop him. In order to be a successful entrepreneur you have to take risk and overcome many obstacles along the way. It’s great that you were able to work with an entrepreneur and witness what it takes to be one. I really enjoyed reading you post. Great job!
