Week 5 Reading Reflection

Reading Reflection

For each reading reflection post, I ask you to address the following areas:

1) What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations?  One of the biggest surprise for me regarding the reading was the section on “Why New Ventures Fails”. It mentions “poor timing” and how 40% of ventures fail because they came into the market prematurely. That is a large percent was surprised that it was that high.

2) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you. I believe the reading in this chapter was pretty straight forward and understood what was being presented to me.

3) If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why? I would ask on how someone can determine if they are going to the marketplace too early with their product or service, and is there something that can be done to ensure your venture does not become that 40% failure that the poor timing study showed.

4) Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How? I don’t believe there was anything in this section that I would disagree with. I would however would have like to know more details on the study conducted in the “Why New Ventures Fails”.
