Google Gold

1) A discussion of your general approach and strategy to search engine optimization (SEO). What were some of the activities you did for each blog post to pursue SEO?

I am not an active social media user, I don’t have a Twitter, Instagram, Snapchats accounts etc. so I know for those reasons my blogs did not get a lot of traffic because I had no other avenues or platforms to share links to my blog.  I know that setting up those accounts would’ve improved traffic into my blog but it will also require extra time and effort that I unfortunately could not give this semester, as a result I did not have much of a strategy to put my blog out there. Had I had a lot more social media presence in the different sites my strategy would’ve been to incorporate my blogs to those accounts and share links to my blogs.

2) What were your keywords. How did you select those keywords? Did you change or refine your keywords through the semester?

As far as keywords go I kept my blog post titles simple to what was the assignment. I did not make it a point to insert certain phrases or words in my blogs that would stand out for search engines. It was a mistake on my part and one that if I had an opportunity for a do over that I would make more of an effort and make it more of a priority when I posted blogs.

3) How did you use social media to enhance your SEO efforts? What your your surprises or general impression of using social media to improve your blog's profile? Was social media generally receptive of your blog, or did it get ignored?

As I mentioned on my first response I did not have much of a strategy to make my blog go viral. If I had used social media to put my blog out there I think it would’ve been well received and mostly positive the traffic to my blog site would’ve increased because of social media.

4) What was your most "viral" post? In other words, which post obtained the most traffic? Why do you think?

My “Entrepreneur Story” received the most views. I think the reason for the high traffic on my “Entrepreneur Story” was because other students in the class where interested and curious to see what other students experience where like and if they shared similar stories to mine.

5) Finally, did you make it to the first page of Google results for your keywords? If not, what page of results did you make it to?

I didn’t use certain keywords or phrases to promote my blog post which hurt the blogs traffic and in turn did not make it not even close to being on the first 10 pages of search results in Google. I did type in the title of my blog “Test New Blog UF ENT3003” out of curiosity to see where it would end up at and it came up on the first page of Google.

  2. Hi Joselyn, Great post! I really like how you opened up your business and really figured out a good analysis. You realized you did something incorrectly, and you realized something should change and that is a great entrepreneurial trait. If you have a moment, I would appreciate it if you checked out my page.
